A message from Pastor Martha
In 2007, the ELCA Church wide Assembly adopted “Book of Faith: Lutherans Read the Bible,” a sweeping five-year initiative to boost study of the Bible throughout the church. This initiative invites the whole church – every congregation and every member – to become more fluent in the first language of faith, the language of Scripture, by committing ourselves to regularly and increasingly hearing, reading, studying, sharing, and being formed by God’s Word.
One of the ways that the people of St. John’s have embraced this initiative is by committing our Congregation Council, all of our standing committees, and the congregation at large to read and reflect upon one passage of Scripture each month (beyond what we hear and reflect upon during our worship services).
We invite you to join in the reflection! We invite you to embrace our goal of regularly and increasingly hearing, reading, studying, sharing, and seeking to be formed by God’s Word. And, of course, we invite you physically to join the conversation by joining us for any of our services or events.
Yours in Christ,
